Take Action this Mother’s Day!

Take Action this Mother’s Day!

Did you know that Mother’s Day is steeped in feminist history? In 1870, Julia Ward Howe, a nurse during the Civil War who tended to the wounds of soldiers and worked with widows and orphans, declared a day dedicated to feminist justice and action: Mother’s Day. Her desire was to build a better world for the next generation.

In the spirit of the original call to action on Mother’s Day, this weekend we are calling on you to take action to support a new campaign sponsored by WOC and our partners in the church-justice movement: A Church for Our Daughters.
Here are three ways you can take action:

  • Read and sign the Declaration for A Church for Our Daughters.
  • Forward the Declaration on to your friends! We need as many signers possible.
  • Join us at the United States Conference of Bishops’ meeting on June 14th at 12:00 pm in Huntington Beach, CA  for a march, witness, and petition delivery (additional details coming soon). Let us know you’re coming by emailing us at woc@womensordination.org.Thank you for taking action! This weekend we are especially grateful for all the grandmothers, moms, aunties, sisters, daughters, mentors, and caregivers who advocate for equality & justice. You are making this church a better place for our daughters. Happy Mother’s Day!
