Announcing Leadership Transitions: a message from the WOC Board President
As President of the National Board of Directors, I am excited to announce a transition in Women’s Ordination Conference leadership. Kate McElwee, Co-Executive Director since 2014, has been voted by our Board of Directors as the sole Executive Director of the Women’s Ordination Conference as of August 24, 2017.
Kate McElwee has been with WOC since 2011 and has served enthusiastically with passion as Co-Executive Director since 2014. She will be continuing to lead WOC from her base in Rome, coordinating with staff at our headquarters in Washington, DC and with our dedicated members and volunteers around the world.
As we celebrate Kate’s new leadership, we also want to take this opportunity to express gratitude to Erin Saiz Hanna for her nearly 10 years of inspired leadership and dedication to WOC. Since 2008, Erin played a critical role in the growth and success of the organization. She will be truly missed by the Board, staff, members and partners alike. We wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors supporting girls’ education in her home state of Rhode Island.
Again, congratulations to Kate McElwee on her new role! We are confident she will continue to prophetically lead and inspire our organization for women’s equality in the Roman Catholic Church.
If you have any questions or concerns during this time of transition, please contact the WOC board at leadership@womensordination.org.
In hope and enthusiasm,
Sheila Peiffer
