Women’s Ordination Conference at the Synod

WOC will be in Rome throughout the month of October for the Synod of Bishops!

Our witness is essential to ensure women’s voices, experiences, stories, and vocations are not erased or silenced in the synodal process. We will work for accountability to the grassroots, and be an uncompromising voice for equitable inclusion of women at every level of our church.

We believe investing in WOC’s presence at the synod is extremely valuable and will have a significant impact on the unique moment of dialogue in the church.

It is no exaggeration to say that this is hard work, and we will face enormous challenges. Our presence is perceived as a real threat to the Vatican’s status quo, and as we saw in August 2022 during the consistory, even a women’s ordination activist holding a paper parasol can become grounds for a criminal investigation.

Our call for your support is both urgent and necessary so that we may continue to build our capacity, make change, and make sure women’s ordination is front and center as the church enters the global stage of the synod.

With your support, we will continue to ensure the synodal tent is enlarged enough to include all voices, and model the spirit-filled church we need in this moment.

WOC at the Synod: A Preview

We see our presence as an extension of the synodal tent, where we can model synodality authentically, amplify the voices most silenced by the institutional church, and creatively and boldly ensure that there is no synod about us without us.

• On October 3rd, on the eve of the Vatican’s synod, we will host a prayer vigil featuring the voices of women worldwide.
• On October 6th, WOC is organizing a “Walk with Women,” a procession through Rome to the synod hall that will encourage the church to walk alongside women as equals throughout the synodal path and beyond. We’ll also be offering “virtual” ways for you to walk with WOC in your community.
